Stanton-under-Bardon Parish Council

Welcome to Stanton-under-Bardon Parish Council Website

Stanton-under-Bardon is a small village located in the rural heart of Leicestershire, just a mile from Junction 22 of the M1. With a close-knit community of around 1,000 residents, the village offers a peaceful setting along with local conveniences, including a village shop, two churches, a pub, and a primary school. The village's name, derived from the Latin words ‘stan’ (stone) and ‘tun’ (village), reflects its long-standing connection to local stone quarries, which have provided employment for over two centuries. Today, two major companies continue to operate quarries near the village.

Stanton-under-Bardon Parish Council represents the lowest tier of local government and is dedicated to delivering essential public services to our residents. We manage key community assets such as the Village Hall, the large recreational area behind the primary school, two allotment sites, and the war memorial. Additionally, the Parish Council advocates the views and concerns of residents to larger governing bodies, including Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, Leicestershire County Council, and the Leicestershire Police & Crime Commissioner.

The Parish Council offices are situated in the Village Hall on St John Cole Crescent. The Council comprises of 5 local Councillors who are elected to represent the Parish. Councillors are residents who live locally and who are passionate about making Stanton under Bardon a great place to live. Any resident is warmly welcomed to our regular Parish Council meetings and voice any concerns that they may have.
